And I'm back... well not really

UPDATE: This is a sample from a pre-production BETA camera, sorry about any confusion - long day

I have returned form VISA but I'm still abroad, I have been delivering video training in Dublin on Final Cut Studio and the new Canon 7D.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first to use a prototype of the new camera on the day of launch and have been blogging various technical specs of the video function on my Vimeo account:

I have also been experimenting with the stills function of the camera, this shot was taken in .jpeg at 640 ISO with a 1.4 50mm (The RAW format is not publicly available as an API for Aperture) and then converted to black and white in Nik software's Silver FX Pro for Aperture. Its a very nice camera to use, ergonomically the new on/off button on the back is easy to get to and the new set of menu access points on the back (arranged like an interactive map) make setting custom buttons a dream. I have yet to use the accelerometer functions (horizon line adjustment) but I imagine it will be useful if I do any landscape work with it.
