Last Days

I had some spare time on Tuesday after a cancelled work commitment and knowing I had 2 presentations at the Wild Photo's '09 show to deliver with only urban video footage I took a trip to Richmond Park with a few camera's to shoot some stuff to talk about.

I used video DSLR's and 1Ds Mk3 to produce a mixed stills and video piece, edited and colour graded it in Final Cut Pro:

Minimalist Landscapes

Here are some minimal landscapes created from parts of photos taken in Scotland, I like to use material I have shot on a location, even if the original image doesn't work on its own - be it not right from a composition point of view, underexposed or overexposed - I never like to waste footage, foe these images I took elements of "broken" photos and worked them together to make new compositions, they are not real places but sort of like landscape mashups...

Chinatown

I went to Chinatown a weekend or so ago, I'm always struck by how overtly different it looks to other quarters of the city, London has a lot of areas with a distinct cultural flavour but chinatown is so bright and well..... red.

These images were processed in Aperture 2 to give them a sort of 90's style film look, Aperture is a very flexible tool, more powerful than you initially think if you came from Photoshop for your image adjustment, all the tools for fine tuning everything from individual colour bandwidths to mid-tone contrasts are in the adjustments panel and of course you have the advantage of working on an original RAW file so you have a greater bandwidth to work on particularly on highlights.
