I visited the beaches of Vik on a bitterly cold tuesday morning, despite the conditions I have never visited such a tranquil and calm place.. almost entirely uninhabited save the footprints of recent visitors in the damp sand. This modern interpretation of a Viking longboat sits in the docklands of Rekyavik facing the western Fjords, a casual mix of both Icelandic minimalism and traditional Norse mythology the sculpture sums up so much about the local culture.
